“I dreamed about a culture of belonging. I still dream that dream. I contemplate what our lives would be like if we knew how to cultivate awareness, to live mindfully, peacefully; if we learned habits of being that would bring us closer together, that would help us build beloved community.”

― bell hooks

Welcome to Dalila John Training and Consulting Services! Dalila is committed to building beloved communities centered on mutual empowering and authentic relationships. She also believes that as we seek new knowledge and plan our futures, we must never forget the past.

Sankofa (SAHN-koh-fah), language from the Akan Tribe of Ghana translates to, “return and get it.” Sankofa symbolizes the Akan people's ongoing quest for knowledge centered on critical examination and patient investigation. It also recognizes that the past serves as a guide for planning the future. There is wisdom in reaching back to move forward and lifting as we climb. One visual representation of Sankofa, is a mythical bird with its feet firmly planted forward while its head is effortlessly turned backwards. Sankofa is a guiding principle of Dalila's work.
